about me / biography

I am a LGBT artist originally from a working-class family in the countryside of the Scottish Highlands, where I got my GCSEs and studied art into advanced higher (2018), before attending a portfolio course at bridge house art, Ullapool, where I held my first exhibition “Resonance: mac-talla (2019)” at An Talla Solais gallery, of which was set up alongside my fellow course members. I then went on to attend Glasgow school, where I studied for my Bachelor of Fine Arts (with honours) in painting and printmaking and is also where I am just finished wrapping up my final year (2019-2023) and have previously participated in several ends of year exhibitions such as “pipe dream (2022)” at the Bara’s pipe factory, Glasgow, and several smaller “pop up show”.

About my practice/artist statement

Specializing in working with paint on paper, more specifically working in a range of select mixed media, primarily watercolour and graphite, to create paintings, artist books and installations that depict the affliction of mental illness upon both the mental and physical state, the conscious and unconscious realms.
I use my own body, mind, and domestic setting as reference to a series of works of emotionally emotive and vulnerable figurative, self-portraits of the artist, depicting my own personal struggles with mental health.
